A recent beta build of Parallels Desktop, the first virtualization solution available for the Intel Macs, introduced a handful of new features, most notably, the ability to boot a Windows system off a Boot Camp physical partition. This article describes how to use Parallels' new feature with Linux instead.

Welcome back. Here’s something funny enough to compensate for the long break. Or at least, that’s all you get while I work on the next full featured post.
I love easter eggs. I found this one while working on my vacation photos in Apple’s iPhoto. In the full-screen editing mode there’s a useful button labeled Compare [...]

The whine I mentioned in the previous post is, by the way, not exclusively an Apple thing.

Actually, if my experience was representative, I’d say about 40% of all Intel laptops suffer from overloaded, “singing” capacitors, as this is inherent to how the Intel CPU power management is designed. And, bear in mind, these are not only generic brands like Compal, but also Dells and the highly-respected IBM ThinkPads.

How come the manufacturers don’t acknowledge and fix those flaws?

If you’re serious about buying a MacBook Pro and do some web research, you’re going to come across some issues MBPs tend to exhibit. There’s even a website entirely dedicated to keeping track of all the defects.
One of the two predominant problems is the so-called whine.
Now, there’s some confusion over what the whine actually [...]

What makes a declared Linux user and developer switch to Mac OS X after having used Linux almost exclusively for more than 6 years?
And more specifically, why should you, my dear reader, give a damn about all the drama?
Well, frankly, I have no idea — I was never good at drama. [...]
